Veryfi has three plans. Free processes up to 100 documents a month at no cost. Starter carries a $500 per month minimum commitment, and that $500 is a spend commitment rather than a platform fee: at the published $0.08 per receipt it buys 6,250 receipts. Growth is quote only, with volume discounts and model fine-tuning. The number that decides whether Veryfi is cheap for you is not the per receipt rate, it is whether you use up the minimum.
How much does Veryfi cost?
Veryfi publishes a rate card for document extraction rather than a single subscription price. The Free plan is $0 for up to 100 documents per month across all document types. Starter starts at $500 per month and meters each document type separately. Growth is priced by conversation with sales. Here is the published platform rate card, read from the Veryfi pricing page.
| Plan | Monthly cost | Document allowance | Support | SLA |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, described as Free Forever | Up to 100 docs per month | No | |
| Starter | $500 per month minimum commitment | Metered per document type | Slack and email | Optional |
| Growth | Custom, volume discounts | Metered with volume discounts | Slack or Teams, email, SMS, Zoom | Optional |
How much does Veryfi cost per receipt?
Receipts are $0.08 each on Starter. Invoices are $0.16. The rate depends entirely on the document type you send, and the spread between the cheapest and dearest published type is more than three times. These are the per document rates Veryfi lists on its plan comparison table.
| Document type | Free plan | Starter rate | Growth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Receipts | Up to 100 per month | $0.08 per receipt | Volume discounts |
| Invoices | Up to 100 per month | $0.16 per invoice | Volume discounts |
| W-2s and W-9s | Up to 100 per month | $0.16 per form | Volume discounts |
| Bank checks | Up to 100 per month | $0.25 per check | Volume discounts |
| Bank statements | Up to 100 per month | $0.25 per statement | Volume discounts |
| 100+ other document types | Up to 100 per month | Contact sales | Contact sales |
What is the Veryfi minimum commitment?
Starter carries a $500 per month minimum commitment. This is the single most misread line on the page. It is not a platform fee charged on top of usage, and it is not a floor you pay before metering begins. Veryfi own pricing calculator shows $500 buying 6,250 receipts at $0.08 each, so the minimum is prepaid volume. The practical effect is that your real cost per document depends on how much of the commitment you consume.
What the $500 minimum actually costs you per receipt
If you process fewer receipts than the commitment covers, you still pay $500. Dividing that $500 by your actual monthly volume gives the effective rate, which is the figure worth putting in a budget. This arithmetic is ours, calculated from Veryfi published $500 minimum and $0.08 receipt rate.
| Receipts per month | What you pay | Effective cost per receipt | Versus the $0.08 headline |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | $0 on the Free plan | $0.00 | Free tier covers it |
| 500 | $500 | $1.00 | 12.5 times the headline rate |
| 1,000 | $500 | $0.50 | 6.3 times |
| 2,500 | $500 | $0.20 | 2.5 times |
| 6,250 | $500 | $0.08 | Break-even, commitment fully used |
| 10,000 | $800 | $0.08 | Veryfi says contact sales for a better rate |
There is a dead zone between 100 documents a month and roughly 6,250. Below 100 the free tier handles it. Above 6,250 the published rate is the real rate. In between, every document costs more than the sticker price, and the gap is widest exactly where most small finance teams sit. A bookkeeping practice running 800 receipts a month is paying about 63 cents each for a service advertised at 8 cents.
Does Veryfi have a free plan?
Yes. Veryfi lists a Free plan at $0 that it describes as Free Forever, covering up to 100 documents per month. It includes all document types, the SDKs for development, platform access, limited storage and email support. It is a genuine development and evaluation tier rather than a trial, though Veryfi also advertises a 14 day trial with no credit card required. Model fine-tuning and SLAs are not available on it.
Veryfi pricing against other receipt OCR vendors
Veryfi sells a managed extraction API with SDKs and a document capture layer, so a straight per page comparison against raw cloud OCR flatters the cloud vendors and understates what Veryfi packages. Both numbers still matter. This table uses published US list rates for a single page receipt only.
| Vendor | Published receipt rate | Monthly minimum | Free tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Veryfi Starter | $0.08 per receipt | $500 commitment | 100 docs per month |
| AWS Textract AnalyzeExpense | $0.0100 per page | None | Limited free tier |
| Azure AI Document Intelligence prebuilt receipt | $0.0100 per page | None | F0 tier, first two pages only |
| Google Document AI expense parser | $0.10 per count, one count is up to 10 pages | None | Limited free tier |
| Nanonets | $0.02 to $0.30 per run by model | No platform fee | $50 in credits |
| ReceiptOCR Starter | $49 per month for 2,500 pages, about $0.0196 per page | None beyond the plan | Trial |
The comparison that actually decides a purchase is minimum commitment, not unit rate. AWS, Azure and Google will bill you eleven cents for eleven receipts and nothing at all in a quiet month. Veryfi will bill $500. For a team with lumpy volume, that difference dwarfs the per document spread. We break the big three down properly on our OCR API pricing page.
Who Veryfi Starter actually suits
Veryfi is a strong fit for a specific shape of buyer, and a poor one outside it. It suits a product team embedding document capture into their own application at steady, predictable volume above roughly 6,000 documents a month, who want mobile camera SDKs, fraud detection and a supported vendor rather than raw OCR primitives. Veryfi bundles an Embedded no-code builder priced at $0.20 per registration, which is aimed at teams wiring document capture into customer onboarding rather than at internal bookkeeping.
That embedded path is really a back-office document workflow problem as much as an extraction one, because the hard part is usually the handoff after the data comes out, not the reading itself.
It suits a bookkeeping firm, a small AP team or an accountant far less well. Those teams have variable monthly volume, sit well under the commitment threshold, and do not need a camera SDK. They are the group paying several times the headline rate. If that describes you, a plan with no minimum makes more sense, which is the case we lay out on our Veryfi alternative page, and our bulk receipt scanner handles batch uploads without a commitment.
Is Veryfi pricing negotiable?
Above 10,000 documents a month, yes and explicitly so. Veryfi states that at 10,000 or more documents you are eligible for a better rate and directs you to contact sales for volume pricing discounts. The Growth plan exists for exactly this and adds model fine-tuning with access to the ML team, unlimited storage, custom data retention, SAML single sign-on and quarterly business reviews. Below that threshold the published rates are what you get.
What is not included in the Veryfi per document rate
Several capabilities are listed as add-ons rather than bundled, which means the per document rate is a floor for anything beyond plain extraction. The Fraud Detection Suite, the GenAI Detector for spotting AI generated fake documents, Document Classification, Product Intelligence for decoding line item SKUs and the PDF Splitter are all marked as add-ons on Starter and Growth. Veryfi does not publish prices for these, so a quote is the only way to size them.
The camera capture products sit outside the rate card entirely. The AI Camera SDK for iOS and Android, the browser camera framework and Credit Card Capture are all listed as contact sales on every tier including Free. Veryfi also notes that its expense management product is priced separately from this platform rate card.
Frequently asked questions
How does Veryfi's document extraction API compare to Textract and Google Document AI? On price per receipt, Veryfi sits between the two: $0.08 per receipt with a $500 monthly minimum on Starter, against $0.01 per page for AWS Textract AnalyzeExpense with no minimum and $0.10 per document for the Google Document AI Expense parser. Veryfi adds mobile SDKs, capture and fraud tooling the cloud APIs leave to you, while Textract and Document AI win on having no commitment. The full cloud rates are on our AWS Textract pricing and Google Document AI pricing pages.
How much does Veryfi cost per month? The minimum on the paid Starter plan is $500 per month. Below that there is a Free plan at $0 covering 100 documents per month. Growth pricing is custom. Because the $500 is a spend commitment against metered usage, your bill is the greater of $500 or your actual document consumption.
Is Veryfi cheaper than AWS Textract? Not on unit rate. Veryfi charges $0.08 per receipt against $0.0100 per page for Textract AnalyzeExpense, and Textract has no minimum commitment. Veryfi packages SDKs, capture, fraud tooling and support that Textract does not, so the comparison is closer on total delivered capability than the raw rates suggest.
Does Veryfi charge per page or per document? Per document, and the price varies by document type. A receipt is $0.08 and a bank statement is $0.25 regardless of how many pages each runs to. This differs from AWS and Azure, which meter per page, and from Google Document AI, where one billable count covers up to ten pages.
Does Veryfi offer a free trial? Veryfi advertises a 14 day free trial with no credit card required, alongside a permanent Free plan capped at 100 documents per month. For most evaluations the Free plan is the more useful of the two because it does not expire, though it excludes SLAs and model fine-tuning.
What happens if I do not use my Veryfi minimum? You still pay it. The $500 commitment is charged whether or not you consume the equivalent document volume, which is what drives the effective per document rate above the published figure at low usage. Veryfi does state that you can change plans or cancel at any time.
If you are comparing extraction vendors against expense platforms rather than against each other, the units stop matching entirely. Expense tools meter seats and scan quotas instead of documents, which we cover on our Zoho Expense pricing page, and you can test extraction on a real receipt with our receipt OCR API.
