AutoEntry bills in credits, and the credit is weighted by document type: a receipt costs one, an invoice with line items costs two, a bank statement costs three per page. US plans run from $13 a month for 50 credits to $469 for 2,500, before tax. Upload a receipt or invoice below to see the same fields extracted and priced per page instead of per credit.

AutoEntry, which carries Sage branding on its own logo, does publish a full rate card, and that already puts it ahead of most document capture vendors. Two things still get in the way. The prices are drawn by script rather than sitting in the page, so most published summaries quote a stale figure, and the plan card shows a price per credit that almost nobody actually pays, because the credit is weighted by document type.
The pricing page carries a currency selector covering seven currencies, and a US buyer landing on it can easily read the pound figures and budget from the wrong number. The dollar ladder is real and complete, but you have to switch to it first, and the difference is not a rounding error.
The headline per credit rate of $0.26 down to $0.19 only equals your cost per document when every document is a plain receipt or a single line invoice. AutoEntry itself publishes the weighting, and it changes the answer by two or three times on the document types finance teams send most.
A bank or credit card statement consumes three credits per page. A twelve page statement is thirty six credits, which is most of a Bronze plan gone on one document. Any practice doing bank statement work should price that line separately before choosing a tier.
A purchase or sales invoice is one credit. The same invoice captured with its line items is two. Line item capture is exactly what you buy this category of tool for, so the realistic cost per invoice for most buyers is the two credit rate, not the one credit rate on the card.
Plans include unlimited users and unlimited clients for accountants and bookkeepers, which is genuinely generous. The cost consequence is that documents your clients submit draw down your credit balance, so the allowance you size has to cover their behavior, not just yours.
The pricing page states that unused credits are kept for up to 90 days, but it does not publish what happens or what you pay when you run out mid month. That number decides the cost of a seasonal spike, so it is worth getting in writing before signing rather than after.
If the pile you need to clear is receipts, supplier invoices and statement pages rather than a managed publishing workflow into a ledger, the credit is the wrong unit to buy. A page is a page regardless of what is printed on it. Upload the batch, check the columns that come back, and export a spreadsheet.
The Starter plan is $49 a month for 2,500 pages, which works out at about two cents a page. A bank statement page and a receipt draw the same single unit of allowance, so no document type is quietly three times the price of another.
Vendor, date, invoice number, subtotal, sales tax, total and each individual line come back as their own columns on the same page of allowance. Capturing detail does not double what the document costs.
Output lands in a spreadsheet a bookkeeper can work from directly, or in a file your accounting system accepts, without a middle step to reformat it.
Drop a folder of mixed receipts and invoices in at once instead of estimating a monthly document mix and a percentage requiring line items before you can pick a plan.
Pages reset each month rather than accruing as a balance you have to spend inside a 90 day window, so there is no unused credit to write off at the end of a quiet quarter.
Plans are monthly with an annual option and the rate is published in dollars. There is no currency toggle to notice and no demo booking between you and a number.
The plan price is the last number you should look at, not the first. Work through your own document mix in this order and you will land close to the real invoice instead of the headline per credit rate.
Use the currency selector on the pricing page before you read a single figure. The dollar ladder runs $13, $24, $46, $103, $298 and $469 a month for 50, 100, 200, 500, 1,500 and 2,500 credits, and all of those are quoted before tax.
Tip: Prices on that page are drawn by script, so a summary you find on a review site or a directory may be quoting a rate card that has already moved. Read it from the vendor.
Count receipts and expenses, invoices without line items, invoices with line items, supplier statements, and bank statement pages as five separate lines. These are the five categories AutoEntry prices differently, and lumping them together is what produces a wrong estimate.
Multiply receipts and plain invoices by one, invoices with line items and supplier statements by two, and bank and credit card statement pages by three. The total is the credit allowance you need, and it is usually well above the raw document count.
Take the tier that covers your credit total, divide its monthly price by the number of documents you actually process, and you have a cost per document you can compare against a per page tool. That figure, not the per credit rate, is what belongs in the business case.
Every plan name, credit allowance and dollar price below was read from the AutoEntry pricing page with the currency set to US Dollar. Where a figure is our arithmetic on those published rates rather than an AutoEntry rate, it says so.
You need a defensible annual number before you raise a purchase request, and the per credit rate on the card will not give you one.
Your clients upload against your allowance, so the plan you pick has to cover their document habits as well as your own.
At three credits a page, statements are the single line most likely to blow through the tier you were about to buy.
You are putting AutoEntry next to Dext, Hubdoc and a per page extractor and need all of them expressed in one unit.
AutoEntry costs $13 a month for 50 credits on Bronze, rising through $24 for 100, $46 for 200, $103 for 500 and $298 for 1,500 to $469 a month for 2,500 credits on Sapphire. All six figures are US dollars before tax. Volumes above 2,500 credits a month are handled as a custom package arranged through a demo rather than a published tier.
These are the six published tiers with the currency selector set to US Dollar. The cost per credit column is AutoEntry own published figure. The annual total is our arithmetic, twelve times the monthly price, and it excludes tax.
| Plan | Credits per month | Price per month | Cost per credit | Twelve months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 50 | $13 | $0.26 | $156 |
| Silver | 100 | $24 | $0.24 | $288 |
| Gold | 200 | $46 | $0.23 | $552 |
| Platinum | 500 | $103 | $0.21 | $1,236 |
| Diamond | 1,500 | $298 | $0.20 | $3,576 |
| Sapphire | 2,500 | $469 | $0.19 | $5,628 |

Every plan carries the same feature set. AutoEntry states that all features are included as standard, with unlimited users on every plan, unlimited cloud storage, unlimited clients for accountants and bookkeepers, and a partner portal. You are buying volume, not capability, which is a cleaner model than the tier gated feature lists most of this market uses.
A credit is the unit AutoEntry consumes when you upload a document, and the number consumed depends on what the document is. A purchase or sales invoice costs one credit, the same invoice with line items costs two, an expense or receipt costs one, a supplier statement costs two, and a bank or credit card statement costs three credits per page. That table is published by AutoEntry on both its pricing page and its help center.
| Document type | Credits | Cost on Bronze | Cost on Sapphire |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purchase or sales invoice | 1 per invoice | $0.26 | $0.19 |
| Invoice captured with line items | 2 per invoice | $0.52 | $0.38 |
| Expense or receipt | 1 per receipt | $0.26 | $0.19 |
| Supplier statement | 2 per statement | $0.52 | $0.38 |
| Bank or credit card statement | 3 per page | $0.78 | $0.57 |
The credit counts are AutoEntry published figures. The two dollar columns are our arithmetic, the credit count multiplied by the published per credit rate at the cheapest and the most expensive tier. They exist because the weighting is the part of AutoEntry pricing that most estimates miss, and it is the part that moves the answer most.
It depends entirely on the mix. The same Gold plan at $46 a month covers 200 receipts, or 100 invoices with line items, or roughly 66 pages of bank statements. Below is what each tier covers under three realistic single type workloads. All three columns are our arithmetic on the published credit weightings.
| Plan | Credits | Receipts only | Invoices with line items | Bank statement pages |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 50 | 50 | 25 | 16 |
| Silver | 100 | 100 | 50 | 33 |
| Gold | 200 | 200 | 100 | 66 |
| Platinum | 500 | 500 | 250 | 166 |
| Diamond | 1,500 | 1,500 | 750 | 500 |
| Sapphire | 2,500 | 2,500 | 1,250 | 833 |
Read the last column carefully if you do bookkeeping work that involves statements. A practice reconciling twenty client accounts with twelve page statements each needs 720 credits a month for that task alone, which is a Diamond plan at $298 before a single receipt has been uploaded. Nothing about the per credit rate on the plan card hints at that.
Yes, for a limited window. AutoEntry states on its pricing page that you keep unused credits for up to 90 days. That is more generous than a strict use it or lose it month, and it absorbs an ordinary quiet January. It is not a permanent balance, so buying a large tier to bank credits against a busy year end does not work.
Yes. The trial includes 25 free credits. Under the published weighting that is 25 receipts, or roughly 12 invoices with line items, or 8 pages of bank statements, which is enough to judge extraction quality on your own documents but not enough to run a month of real work through it. There is no permanently free tier.
The comparison that decides most evaluations is not AutoEntry against another capture app, it is credits against pages. Below is the same monthly workload priced under both models. AutoEntry figures use its published rates and weightings, ReceiptOCR figures are our own published rates, and the per document rows are arithmetic.
| Scenario | AutoEntry | ReceiptOCR |
|---|---|---|
| Entry plan price | $13 per month | $49 per month |
| What the entry plan buys | 50 credits, weighted by document type | 2,500 pages, any document type |
| 2,500 receipts a month | Sapphire at $469 per month | Inside the $49 Starter allowance |
| Effective cost per receipt | $0.19 | $0.020 |
| Cost of a 12 page bank statement | 36 credits, about $6.84 on Sapphire | 12 pages, about $0.24 |
| Capturing invoice line items | Doubles the credit cost | No change |
| Unused allowance | Kept up to 90 days | Resets monthly |
| Free trial | 25 credits | Free tier, no card |
| Publishes into a ledger | Yes, into Sage, QuickBooks and Xero | Export to Excel, CSV and QuickBooks file |
That last row matters and it does not favor us. AutoEntry is a publishing workflow, not just an extractor. It holds documents in an inbox, lets a reviewer approve them, remembers supplier coding, and pushes finished entries through to the ledger with the source document attached. If the job you are hiring for is the whole pre accounting process across a client base, that workflow is a large part of what you are paying for and the per credit rate is not the only thing to weigh.
It is worth it when the workflow is the point and the volume is modest. A practice processing a few hundred mixed documents a month, publishing into Sage or QuickBooks, with clients uploading through a portal, gets a coherent product for $46 to $103 a month with unlimited users and unlimited clients. That is a fair price for what it does.
It stops being worth it when volume is high and the documents are short. The weighting means the cost per document climbs exactly where you would want it to fall, and by the time you are at 2,500 credits you are paying $469 a month for what a per page tool covers inside a $49 plan. The break point is not a headcount or a company size, it is the moment your monthly credit total crosses roughly 500 and your documents are mostly one page. Work out your own credit total using the weighting table above, then compare, because the per credit rate on the plan card will not tell you.
AutoEntry costs $13 a month for 50 credits on Bronze, $24 for 100 on Silver, $46 for 200 on Gold, $103 for 500 on Platinum, $298 for 1,500 on Diamond and $469 for 2,500 on Sapphire. Those are US dollar rates before tax. Above 2,500 credits AutoEntry arranges a custom package through a demo.
A credit is the unit consumed when you upload a document, weighted by document type. An invoice or a receipt costs one credit, an invoice captured with line items costs two, a supplier statement costs two, and a bank or credit card statement costs three credits per page.
Between $0.19 and $0.78 per document depending on tier and document type. A receipt is one credit, so it costs the per credit rate of $0.26 on Bronze down to $0.19 on Sapphire. A bank statement page is three credits, so it costs $0.78 down to $0.57. Those dollar figures are our arithmetic on published rates.
Three credits per page. A twelve page bank statement therefore consumes 36 credits, which is more than two thirds of the 50 credit Bronze plan. If statement work is a regular part of your month, size the plan on statement pages first and add everything else afterwards.
Yes, for up to 90 days. AutoEntry states on its pricing page that you keep unused credits for up to 90 days, so a quiet month is absorbed rather than lost. Credits do not accumulate indefinitely, so buying a larger tier to bank allowance for a busy year end does not work.
Yes. The AutoEntry trial includes 25 free credits, which is 25 receipts, about 12 invoices with line items, or 8 pages of bank statements under the published weighting. There is no permanently free plan, so continued use needs a paid tier starting at $13 a month.
Twelve months of Bronze is $156, Silver $288, Gold $552, Platinum $1,236, Diamond $3,576 and Sapphire $5,628, all before tax. AutoEntry publishes monthly rates rather than a discounted annual plan, so these totals are simply the monthly price multiplied by twelve.
AutoEntry does not publish an overage rate or an out of credits policy on its pricing page. Because that figure is not published, ask for it in writing before you sign, particularly if your volume is seasonal. Unpublished overage terms are a common source of surprise invoices in this category.
No. Every AutoEntry plan includes unlimited users, and accountants and bookkeepers also get unlimited clients and a partner portal at no extra charge. You are buying document volume rather than seats, which is unusual and genuinely favorable in this market.
Not at volume on short documents. At 2,500 receipts a month AutoEntry needs the $469 Sapphire plan, about $0.19 per receipt, while a per page tool covers the same 2,500 pages inside a $49 plan at about two cents a page. Below roughly 500 credits a month the gap narrows considerably.
The pricing page carries a currency selector covering seven currencies and does not always open on US Dollar. Switch it before reading any figure. The prices are also drawn by script rather than written into the page, which is why review sites and directories often quote a rate card that has since changed.
Dext and Hubdoc occupy the same pre accounting space with different billing models, Dext charging per client and Hubdoc a flat monthly rate. For receipts and invoices at volume, a per page extractor avoids the credit weighting entirely: ReceiptOCR starts at $49 a month for 2,500 pages with no upcharge for line items or statement pages.
